The Honeybee Experience at Heritage Springs is an exciting and fun date idea or a memorable family experience!
Meet at the Heritage Springs Farm store at your designated tour time. You will then be taken to get outfitted for your experience. A bee suit, gloves, veil, and boots will be provided and must be worn for your safety. You are welcome to bring your own rain boots to wear if you prefer.
You will then be driven out to the apiary by one of our Heritage Springs beekeepers where you will discover the inner workings of the honeybee hive. You will see honeybees in all of their phases of development, see how pollen is stored, learn how to know when honey is ready for harvest, and observe the wonders of the hive. You may see bees carrying pollen into the hive, bees doing their “waggle dance” to point out food sources to other bees, bees “fanning”, and if you are lucky you may even spot the queen!
The Honeybee Experience is intended to be a personal experience so the groups are capped at 6. If you would like an exception to this number for a larger group, please contact us at Heritage Springs (315) 264-3471 and we will do our best to accommodate you.
